The Art of Adventure

Thursday April 2 at 7:00pm (Canada , 86 minutes, English, Documentary)

In 1957, renowned wildlife artist Robert Bateman and fearless biologist Bristol Foster were a pair of young men, finding their way. Looking for adventure – and meaning – the two set off on a 30,000 kilometre trek that would change both of their lives.

Driving their beloved Land Rover – The Grizzly Torque – through Africa, India, and beyond, they came back with experiences that would shape their careers.

Combining home movies taken during the trip, and drawings and paintings made along the way – with commentary by Bateman and Foster – The Art of Adventure is a unique look at how this trip of a lifetime was deeply influential on both men.

The Art Of Adventure recently won the Mountain Culture Film Award at the Whistler Film Festival and was named the 2026 Feature Film Festival Winner at the Reel Canadian Film Fest.
