Heather is a screenwriter and playwright in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her previous plays include Take a Bite, which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Her most recent play, Alex and Michael and Hannah, was a finalist for the 2021 Herman Voaden Prize, and an Alberta Literary Award. Nowhere Normal, a short film she wrote and produced, premiered at the NYC Short Comedy Film Festival in November, 2022, and won Best Live Action Short (Alberta) at the 2023 Edmonton International Film Festival.

Shahar has been an associate member of the Director's Guild of Canada, BC branch, since 2017 and regularly works on set for various shows and movies.
